Off the Cuff Pattern

How about something like this?

  1. Yes, that's a good starting point. Aspects of each character brought together in one image.

  2. So, we could try merging separate symbols for each character into a whole, or find a core, binding idea, event, principle, etc, that ties the group together. I lean towards the latter because I think it is better storytelling. In finding that core we define ourselves *as* a group brought together by fate, not just a bunch of characters randomly chosen to work together.

For example, bringing the prisoners back alive is a decision that might say more about the group than the battle that preceded it. If some of those prisoners represent tribes or towns in the wasteland that have been forced to turn to marauding to survive, maybe we could find ways to use the bounty of the Kaer to support them in exchange for providing information, trade routes, a place for our ambassadors and traders to base out of on the way to other cities. Maybe bases for the work of our new Obsidimen friend to bring life back to the scarred landscape. A fitting symbol in that case might be a bridge, with aspects of each part we bring: strength, style, maybe from a dark place on one side to a light place on the other. We do need to carve this group symbol into our personal objects so it will need to have a simple version, though we could have more elaborate details on shield emblems and other heraldry.

  3. I have no dog in this fight. Whatever the players decide is fine with me, but if I can throw in a couple cents...

If you're thinking about doing a group pattern imminently, consider using the sunburst seal of Uqbar as a central image, since the kaer is what (currently) binds the group together. That may be less true as time goes on, if the group wanders farther afield.

  4. That's funny, I was thinking of having Oren's symbology be rays of the sun, New morning, glad tidings, etc.
